Uniroyal produces “historieta” as part of Hispanic outreach program
GREENVILLE, S.C – (July XX, 2007) – A cartoon superhero known as “Llanta Man” (Tire Man) has joined forces with Uniroyal to help educate Hispanic consumers about tire and automotive maintenance. Llanta Man, the alter ego of Uniroyal Hispanic spokesperson Ricardo Rodriguez-Long, is the focal point of a Spanish language consumer brochure Uniroyal is making available to its dealers in key Hispanic markets. The brochure, which will be available for free to consumers, is produced in the style of a “historieta,” a Hispanic-style comic book popular in Latin America and Hispanic neighborhoods in the U.S. It will also be downloadable on the Uniroyal Spanish language website, www.uniroyal.com/espanol. Uniroyal launched its Manejando Ahorro El Casa (Driving Savings Home) campaign last year with Rodriguez-Long providing tire and automotive advice to Hispanic consumers through TV, radio and print media interviews. The campaign has already netted more than 30-million consumer media impressions this year. “The Llanta Man brochure is a creative way for us to deliver our brand message directly to Hispanic consumers and help them save money through proper tire and automotive maintenance,” said Kaz Holley, Uniroyal® brand marketing director. Rodriguez-Long is a recognized Hispanic automotive expert and former engine builder for the Toyota racing division. He is a certified mechanic, a race car driver and editor of an automotive magazine, Auto a Fondo. He is passionate about providing expert advice to educate Hispanics about their cars. Ricardo lives in California where he manages a truck dealership.
